When Parker LePla began working with Talyst, it had two glaring problems: its rather generic name—Integrated Healthcare Systems—and its narrowly defined role as a pharmaceutical bar coding company. Once we had unearthed the value in what the company does—giving pharmacies a way to close the loop on the electronic medical records process by tracking and packaging individual doses of medications—their new name Talyst, a derivative of catalyst, was an obvious choice. We have also redefined their role as the engineers of the intelligent pharmacy. Talyst is now a strategic partner rather than a commodity vendor. Other projects included a naming schema for their product line, messaging, and collateral.
